Guide, from $5 a month
Make a CurseForge modpack server
Running a CurseForge pack for your friends usually means downloading server files, uploading hundreds of megabytes, editing start scripts and hunting for mods the server can’t fetch. Here it’s a search and a button: the server installs the pack’s exact version, its loader and every mod, and starts.
What you get
All of it comes with every plan, from the smallest up. Nothing to install by hand, nothing extra to pay.
1. Pick a size for the pack
Big packs need memory: All the Mods wants about 14 GB for a few friends, light packs far less. The examples below work it out, and the dashboard checks the pack against your plan before you install.
2. Search the pack
Open Mods & Plugins, then Modpacks. CurseForge is the first tab: search by name, like All the Mods 10 or RLCraft, or browse by what packs are about.
3. Press Install
The dialog shows the pack's version, loader, Minecraft version and mod count. Confirm, and the server backs up, installs the pack and starts. A big pack takes a few minutes the first time.
4. Bring your friends
Send them the server's address and the pack's CurseForge page, from the Overview. They install the same version in the CurseForge App or Prism and join.
Already have a world in that pack?
Install the same pack and version first, then upload your world's folder as a .zip from the Worlds page. Your builds come over; the fresh world is kept aside.
When the pack updates
The Installed tab offers the new version. Updating keeps your world and swaps the pack's mods and settings for the new ones, after a backup.
From paying to playing
- Pick a size and pay; the examples below show what fits each pack.
- On your server, open Mods & Plugins, then Modpacks. CurseForge is the first tab.
- Search for the pack and press Install, then confirm. The server backs up, installs it and starts.
- Send friends the address and the pack's page from the Overview.
Which size?
One block for every GB of memory. Here’s what some typical servers need, from the same rule as how much RAM you need. Move up or down a size any time; the world comes with you.
Good to know
- Mods made only for players' games, like minimaps, shaders and menu tweaks, are left off the server automatically.
- If a pack crashes on a mod it shouldn't ship to servers, the crash card on the Overview names it and leaves it out in one click.
- A few mods are kept to the CurseForge App by their authors; the server fetches those from CurseForge too. If one ever can't be fetched, the Overview says which and where to put it.
- Modpacks and mods come from CurseForge (curseforge.com) through its official API.
